Escape Rope

Warning! This class is definitely NOT shibari. Escape Rope refers to a specific type of play where the bottom struggles to free themselves from their bondage, either through determined willpower or "motivation". This is a dynamic floorwork class and is great in combination with roleplay, D/s dynamics, or s/m. We will cover special safety concerns, how to negotiate for this type of rope, basic techniques for the rigger to incorporate, and tips for the bottom on how to exploit weaknesses.

  • Pre-reqs: All riggers should know a single and double column tie

  • Equipment: At least 4-30’ lengths of rope and safety shears

Domming from the Bottom

Power exchange is a complicated thing, and it can be even more challenging when the dominant is on the receiving end. Are you a dominant who likes pain or being in rope and would still like to express your control while it happens? This type of play is a little nontraditional, but still incredibly fun and something worth exploring. So, let's talk about some tricks to keep your control during this type of scene and let your mind wander to a whole world of other D/s possibilities.

  • Pre-reqs: None

“Bratting: The Art of Escalation”

Sometimes the word “brat” is used as a dirty word when it comes to rope play. A common misconception is that rope bottoms should be quiet and meditative during their experience. Bratting can also be an excellent way to add energy into a scene, make things entertaining for an audience in the dungeon, or even to communicate with each other. This class is about how to fully embrace the chemistry of playful banter, teasing, sassy comments, and light physical resistance. Rope tops will learn some techniques for how to negotiate successfully for this type of play, strategies for ramping up the mood and rope to match the energy of the scene, and tips for keeping your rope bottom in check. Rope bottoms will learn some ways to ask for the type of correction they’re looking for, strategies for ruffling the perfect amount of feathers, and ways to tell if the chemistry needs to plateau.

  • Pre-reqs: All participants should be experienced with negotiation, Rope tops should be able to confidently tie a single and double column (Rope tops who wish to experiment with the partial suspension exercises in this class need to know how to lock off an upline), Rope bottoms should have some self-awareness about how rope feels on their body and practiced communication skills

  • Equipment: At least 6-30’ lengths of rope and several carabiners/hardpoint equipment

The Down Low: Lower Body Ties

This class will cover 2 variations of lower body ties that are not hip harnesses or futos. We will discuss how lower body ties can be used in a variety of ways including floor work, partials and suspensions. This will be a demonstration and a hands on tying class.

  • Prerequisite knowledge: For those tying: Know how to tie a single and double column tie. Know how to tie a friction knot. Knowledge of basic anatomy and rope safety. I do not allow students in my classes to practice suspensions unless they have shown they already have a basic knowledge and understanding of suspensions including safety.

Low Hanging Fruit - Hashira Partials

Students in this class will explore how to build this shape including precautions they should take when engaging this position with people they are tying. Those tying will learn how to build this shape and how to alter different aspects of it to change positions in the air. Those being tied will learn how to pull their bodies into this traditional shape along with learning how to communicate their needs for modifications or alternatives.

  • You will need 6-8 ropes for this class preferably 25-30ft. I always suggest natural fibers such as jute or hemp, but nylon may be used for this class. Safety shears or a cutter is required.

Kata Ashi:

In this class we will explore the traditional position of a Kata Ashi. Bhakti Bondage

Bhakti Bondage class we discuss how to come home to the self and ground to arrive authentically to a scene. In the second Bhakti Bondage class we will take those lessons and apply them with rope as a tool for communication. We will tap into being conscious of the energy we put into the rope and being intentional with the story we are telling. Experimenting with different emotional intentions with rope handling drills and connective exercises, we will dive deep into each other and our rope.
